There are many advantages to proceeding with sewer lining compared with a sewer replacement. These include:
A low-cost alternative to repair any cracks or root infiltration into the sewer without having to excavate or replace the sewer pipe
Reduces cost for landscape damages and restoration costs
Easy for hard-to-access areas where excavation is not ideal
Prevents water infiltration due to cracks or holes in the sewer pipe
Restores structural integrity of the pipe
There are some situations where sewer lining is not the ideal choice:
Does not fix low stops or bellies in the sewer pipe
Does not repair any bad grading of pipe or offset joints in clay piping
